So this weekend on Q105, we’re featuring nothing but #1 songs from the 1970’s and 1980’s. The only downside of that… there were some really great songs that just didn’t quite make it.

It’s amazing to see the songs that didn’t hit #1. For example, do you know Bob Seger’s only #1 song? It’s not “Old Time Rock n’ Roll.” It’s not “Turn The Page” or any other of his classics you’d hear at his concerts. In fact, I’ve seen Bob twice and he’s never performed his only #1: “Shakedown” from the Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack. (And to be honest, I’m glad he doesn’t!)

Here are ten great songs that just missed the top spot on the Billboard charts:

Journey: Open Arms

Toto: Rosanna

Bruce Springsteen: Dancing In The Dark

Nena: 99 Luft Balloons

Queen: We Are The Champions

Eddie Grant: Electric Avenue

10cc: I’m Not In Love

Gerry Rafferty: Baker Street

Foreigner: Waiting For A Girl Like You

Prince: Purple Rain
(Sorry, Prince doesn’t put his music online, so here’s a cover!)
