Linda Ronstadt’s Awesome Induction Into The R&R Hall Of Fame
Every year one of my favorite nights is the debut of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions on HBO.
And this year, the air date had been blocked out since the inductees were announced; for one reason, above all else.
Linda Ronstadt made it. Finally.
Yes, I am a huge fan, who loved her music. The West Coast country rock, the pure country, and the covers of rock and roll classics by Buddy, Smokey Robinson and Chuck Berry. Her amazing, and decades ahead of the curve Great American Songbook albums.
So for all that, I was hoping that her induction and the musical performance in her honor would be spectacular and unforgettable.
It was better than that. With apologies for the fan-can video/audio; applause to the guy in Linda’s backup band who made good, Glenn Frey.
And thanks to (L to R) Stevie Nicks, Carrie Underwood, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Sheryl Crow for going beyond great. The Ladies just killed it.
By the way, the ladies performed a total of 6 songs, and each of them, as well as the entire induction ceremonies were very special. Cat Stevens sounded like 1973. Bruce Springsteen, so personal and poignant about his beloved E Street Band. Hall & Oates, KISS, Peter Gabriel and Nirvana.
The entire ceremony is on HBO some 20 more times this month. Set that DVR, or set up a watch date with some friends.
