79-Year-Old Teacher Forced To Unfriend Students On Facebook Or Be Fired
79 year old Carol Thebarge has been a substitute teacher for the past 35 years. She has a Facebook page and she has thousands of friends, most of them students. The teacher from Charlestown, NH uses Facebook to communicate with her students.
Therbarge says, Facebook is a place where the students can communicate with her privately about what they are having trouble with in school, with bullying, feeling depressed or any other issues.
When recently told about a new school policy regarding teachers, students and Facebook that would require the teacher to unfriend all the students on her Facebook page or she would be fired, THerbarge thought about it and ultimately decided she did not want to delete her student Facebook friends, so she was fired.
What do you think? Was it fair for them to let her go?
