It would have been Linda McCartney’s 72nd birthday Tuesday, 9/24.
When you look at the pictures in this video, it’s a reminder that this was one of the great love affairs; soul-mates who found each other, nurtured each other.
Brought out the best in each other.
When people analyze, and sometimes dismiss Paul McCartney’s songwriting, as simple-or not “heavy enough”; I sometimes wonder how much of that is simple jealousy.
Jealousy that “they” (whoever “they” are), can’t do it.
Because the elegant simplicity of a line like “….and when the cupboard’s bare, I’ll still find something there with my love..” in my mind belies the cathartic process and emotional energy it “costs” to bare one’s soul.
And yet, that is what the great songwriters do, for the love of one’s life.
