Fan favorite Ziva David, also known as actress Cote de Pablo, the Israeli Mossad who joined Mark Harmon’s team on NCIS eight season ago has decided to hang up her badge, gun and cuffs.

It was a decision made entirely by de Pablo, and though she was offered quite a bit of money to remain on the show, her departure will come early in the season as the writers find a way to remove her from the show.

Sometime during November sweeps, NCIS will introduce a new character to replace Ziva David. Actress Emily Wickersham, known for being in the final season of “The Sopranos,” will be brought in for three episodes to see how she is welcomed and fits into the show. The three-show contract has an option to make her a regular in the cast.

Other shows Wickersham has been on include “The Bridge” on the FX Network, “Gossip Girl” on the CW Network and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” on NBC.
