You may have see my original post, in anticipation of Friday’s opening of “Oz, The Great and Powerful.”

Here’s the update: I Loved It!

There were nice homage’s, obvious and subtle, to the 1939 film. I enjoyed the new characters; China Doll in particular, will touch your heart. The re-imagined tale of Oscar Diggs, the magician who gets taken by tornado from Kansas to Oz, hangs together nicely, with funny and sweet moments.

I have a general objection to all the “shot for 2-D and 3-D films”: the “fly into the camera for 3-D stuff” is annoying in 2-D, the composition is off.

All that said, “OZ” is a really fun, be in touch with your kid-self, popcorn film. As I say, I loved it. It seemed the audience in the theater did, too. 4 out of 5.

See for yourself. Here’s the official trailer of  “OZ: The Great and Powerful.”

Have fun!
