There have been lots of famous color combos in NASCAR-”Black” and Dale Earnhardt Sr. for one; the Wood Brothers Red and White for another.
But let’s get real. There is only one “Petty Blue”-and it’s going back to the track this weekend. Smithfield Brands, the major sponsor for the Richard Petty Motorsports 43 car has agreed work their various brands into a “Petty Blue”paint scheme, similar to the look you and I remember from the “King’s” 200 wins.
“I think bringing back Petty Blue makes everything easier for everyone,” the 75-year-old Petty said Tuesday. “It’s easier for the fans to find the car on the racetrack. It’s easier on all our sponsors to stand out. And it’s easier for me because now I can wear all my Petty Blue stuff again. I got a house full of it.”
That’s funny. And it will be fun to see the 43 in Petty Blue on the track this weekend! Let’s go racin’ boys, and ladies, too!
