The youngest of The Beatles, George Harrison, would have turned 70 today. He was extraordinary in every way; as a musician and songwriter, as a visionary creating The Concert for Bangladesh, as an admirer of Eastern culture. And, by all accounts, while not a man without warts, a good and decent human being.
I found a picture portfolio on Rolling Stone.com, with comments by George, Olivia Harrison, his son Dhani and Tom Petty that you might find interesting. It’s the link below the video of the climatic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” from the Concert for George. Eric Clapton leads the band, Sir Paul and Ringo are there-and yet I am drawn to Dhani, looking very much like his father at a similar age, taking his turn in the spotlight. Marvelous.
Oh-that’s George’s Traveling Wibury “brothers” Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, plus Jim Keltner, Joe Walsh, Paul, Olivia and Dhani in the picture. Thanks for the music, George.
