“Hullabaloo,” the prime-time NBC music show which ran from 1965 thru 1966, is making a comeback, with a long overdue retrospective courtesy of PBS. Created by Steve Binder, who produced the “Elvis Comeback Special”, “Hullabaloo” brought us a rock and roll’s who’s who-from Motown to The British Invasion, to the Mamas and Papas, The Byrds and many more, and was “Must-See” TV; years before it became an NBC promo line.
The retrospective will be co-hosted by my friend Peter (“Bob, you can call me Herman”) Noone and T.J. Lubinsky-the producer of the PBS “My Music” shows. And as you can see from the promotional trailer, the sound and the pictures are quite good-and there will be DVD’s for sale during the show-part of PBS’ on-going fundraising.
Set your DVR’s for Saturday, March 2nd, 8pm on WUSF, Ch. 16. I’m in.
