Getting ready for some football?  Are you in for the Ravens, or the 49er’s?  Here at Q105, we’re getting ready, too-with our Super Battle of the Bands Weekend.  Every hour we’ll match-up  East and West Coast bands, and let you decide the winners. And we’ll have a final score, before kick off in the Big Easy.

Here’s a preview.  Steely Dan vs. The Grassroots.  And, I have to tell you-for me, this is a toughie.  I loved the music of both bands, Steely Dan’s first albums were a staple in the dorm rooms, and yet The Grassroots were one of the first bands whose record I played in college radio!

In the end, I  go with The Grassroots.  In the early 2000′s, I became friends with Rob Grill and his wife Nancy, while doing broadcasts at Walt Disney World’s Flower Power concerts.  We shared a lot of laughs, he told some great stories; and it was a sad day when Rob passed away back in 2011.  Love to Nancy-and thanks to Rob for great musical, and personal, memories.
