What a way to kick off the Florida Strawberry Festival! Foreigner and Chubby Checker open this year’s annual salute to the strawberry in Plant City February 28. Chubby Checker does the twist at 3:30 and then Foreigner rocks the crowd at 7:30.
Lou Gramm is no longer with the band, but Mick Jones rejoined Foreigner in August so this should be a great show. Foreigner has sold over 37 million albums here in the U.S. Although the band is still putting out new music, you’re sure to hear their classic hits like “Urgent,” “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Cold As Ice,” and “Juke Box Hero.”
Chubby Checker turned 71 last month and he’s still going strong! These days, he’s still doing the “The Twist”… and selling beef jerky! Checker is keeping us chubby with a line of candy bars, steaks and jerky available on his web site, ChubbyChecker.com.
The festival typically features top country acts and this year, Blake Shelton from The Voice on NBC, American Idol winner Scotty McCreery, Martina McBride and a host of others will take the stage later in the festival’s concert series.
More acts will be announced next week.
