ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS Tampa) - The General Election on Tuesday, November 6th is not your first day to vote, it’s your last. Early Voting for the 2012 Presidential race takes place throughout Tampa Bay beginning Saturday, October 27 and ends a week later on Saturday, November 3, 2012.
Early voting is fast, easy and the best way to avoid the long lines on election day. Most of the counties polling hours during early voting will be 7AM – 7PM. Although, in Counties where the polls are located in a court house the hours may be different. Please reconfirm hours with your county’s Supervisor of Elections.
John Kerry lost Ohio in 2004 by six votes per precinct. That year a shift of less than 60,000 votes in Ohio would have given John Kerry a national victory over George Bush despite his national popular vote deficit of three and a half million votes. Your vote does count. Don’t waste it by not voting or voting for an unofficial candidate.
Remember to bring a valid photo and signature ID when you go to Vote no matter what county you live in. Plus, you do not have to prove you’re a American Citizen despite what you may have heard. If you are registered to vote and have the proper photo and signature ID you may vote. Voter intimidation is illegal and should be reported. Florida’s voter fraud hotline number is 1-877-868-3737.
Examples of acceptable valid photo ID include:
- Florida Driver License
- Florida ID Card issued by the Department of Highway Safety
& Motor Vehicles
- Debit or Credit Card
- Military ID or Student ID

Report Voter Fraud and Intimidation at the Polls
“The Florida Department of State unequivocally opposes all attempts at voter fraud or intimidation and will pursue every avenue to ensure free, fair and open elections for all eligible voters,” said Secretary of State Ken Detzner in a voter fraud statement.
“Voter fraud and intimidation can deny voters their voice in government and will not be tolerated. I am hopeful that vigilant Floridians will help us identify suspicious activity by calling Florida’s voter fraud hotline at 1-877-868-3737.”
