How to make a cat and a dog get along.
Step 1: Go Slow. Animals need time to get to know each other.
Step 2: Praise your dog for friendly behavior around your cat.
Step 3: Provide your cat a place where she/he can get out of reach of your dog.
Step 4: Hold your cat in your arms until she/he is calm and relaxed.
Step 5: Rub a towel on your dog and put the towel under your cat’s bowl so that your cat will get used to the dog’s smell and will accept it.

Apparently under direction of their owner, the dog picks up the cat and carries the feline into the house piggy back style.
