We have to give props to Bay News 9 for uncovering this story. This is a fine example of a stupid stunt that you’d expect from a student, not a teacher!

A teacher’s Facebook comment about a student has sparked some controversy at G.D. Rogers Garden Elementary School in Bradenton. The teacher posted a controversial comment about an 8-year-old boy, and even identified him using his initials and grade level. The teacher wrote,

“I’m fairly convinced that one of my students may be the evolutionary link between orangutans and humans.”

A school spokesperson says the district is sorry, and it will not happen again. However, the apology is too little, too late for the child’s mother. She has hired an attorney and plans to sue.
