On the heels of performing at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert and news that he will be the last act at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics on July 27th, Sir Paul McCartney will need to find some time to celebrate his 70th birthday.
McCartney will turn 70 years young this coming Monday (June 18), but the celebration kicked off a few days early with the unveiling of a new display at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York City.
The new waxworks recreate the band’s famous Abbey Road album cover. The Beatles’ 11th studio album was their last recorded album before their breakup in 1970, and the cover has become one of the most memorable and imitated in recording history.
The photo, taken on August 8, 1969, famously shows the Fab Four making their way along the zebra crossing outside of Abbey Road Studios in Westminster, London. The crossing has become an iconic tourist spot and has a webcam that monitors it at all times.
