The way this thing has gone back and forth, yea and nay, is enough to give you Rock and Roll whiplash. But a tweet from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adam Lambert[/lastfm], along with some good words from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Queen[/lastfm]‘s [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brian May[/lastfm], say it’s a done deal. And the location is very special for the band, invoking memories of former lead singer, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Freddie Mercury[/lastfm].
Here’s the proof from Adam’s Twitter page:
As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!
Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!
The former American Idol finalist will be joining Queen on July 7th, as they headline the second day of the Sonisphere Festival. Here’s the really cool part: This performance will take place at Knebworth Park in Stevenage, England, the same place where Queen played their final show with Freddie in 1986.
Queen guitarist, Brian May, added to the excitement: “Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It’s a worthy challenge for us, and I’m sure Adam would meet with Freddie’s approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush.”

I don’t think people realize what an honor it is that Brian and Roger have chosen Adam above all other singers they could have invited to join them at this memorable event. I am more than proud of Adam and what he has accomplished since he first walked in front of the judges and sang BR a capella. He blew millions of people away with that short version and look at him now. July 7, 2012 will be an historic day and memory in the lives of Queen and Adam Lambert fans forever.

Adam Lambert is definitely good enough to sing with Queen. Right now he is the best male vocalist out there, and Queen apparently agrees. Please play his new single “Better Than I Know Myself” on the radio.

He wowed them at Belfast and will once again at Knebworth. Brian and Roger were right on in asking Adam Lambert to sing with them. I just wish radio would play Adam’s latest song “Better Than I Know Myself” because it is so much better than what is being played on the radio right now.
