Even though there’s still no word on the official results of the autopsy performed on singer Whitney Houston yesterday, a day after she was found dead in a bathtub in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, TMZ is reporting that officials told Houston’s family that she apparently died from a combination of pills and alcohol. Citing family sources, TMZ says they were told there wasn’t enough water in Houston’s lungs to conclude she died of drowning. The celebrity news website also says Houston’s aunt, Mary Jones, discovered her body and began CPR.

However, Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner, Ed Winter, did not answer questions about whether Houston had taken any medications or if any medications were present in the room. Winter says results of toxicology tests won’t be known for the next several weeks.

Last night, a cloud of sorrow hovered over the Grammy Awards with the sudden passing of Houston on Saturday afternoon. Host LL Cool J began the awards show with a prayer for Houston. Oscar and Grammy winner, Jennifer Hudson, performed Houston’s hit “I Will Always Love You,” in tribute to the late singer.
