[photogallerylink id=35539 align=right] Amid all those techno-driven current hits from last year, a big WOW for the greatest Rock band in history. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Beatles[/lastfm] score another #1, topping the Vinyl Sales Charts, 41 years after their breakup.

This news is nothing new! Abbey Road vinyl sales are actually INCREASING year by year: 34,800 in 2009, 35,000 in 2010 and 41,000 copies in 2011, making the album number one for the last 3 years in a row. Here’s the rest of the Top 10 according to Nielsen Sound Scan:

  1. The Beatles – Abbey Road (41,000)
  2. Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues (29,700)
  3. Bon Iver – Bon Iver (27,200)
  4. Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More (26,800)
  5. Radiohead – The King of Limbs (20,800)
  6. Adele – 21 (16,500)
  7. Bon Iver – For Emma, Forever Ago (16,200)
  8. Wilco – The Whole Love (14,900)
  9. The Black Keys – Brothers (14,200)
  10. The Black Keys – El Camino (13,800)

I can remember bringing home a copy of Abbey Road as a kid and having a ton of friends in the neighborhood knocking at the front door, begging to hear it. Truly, a musical masterpiece!
